The first thing that you should do after you sign up for RazorJournal is setup your accounts.
Our accounts are very flexible and can be custom tailored to suit your individual needs. So take a couple of minutes to consider how you want to setup your accounts.
To setup your first account, go to the User icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Then click on the Accounts menu item.
Then you will be taken to the Trading Accounts page. This is a list of all of your trading account. Since you are just starting out, your list will be empty.
But here's what an example list looks like. You can click on the pencil icon to the left of any account to edit it.
What to Consider When Setting Up Accounts
Before you start creating accounts, here are a few thing to consider…
- What do you want to track? You can use accounts to track live broker accounts, but you can also track backtesting results, demo trading results or missed trades.
- You don't have to setup separate RazorJournal accounts for every account at your broker. You can use one RazorJournal account to track trades across all your brokerage accounts. Since we only track trading performance and not account balances, our accounts are very flexible.
- You can always change your accounts later.
Once you have given some thought to how you will setup your accounts, click on the Add Account button in the upper right corner.
Give the account a name and write a description of what you will be tracking in the account.
A very short name is best, so it's easy to identify on your reports. However, it's best to be as detailed as possible in the description, so you know exactly what this account is for.
Click on the Save button to create the account and you will be taken back to your list of trading accounts.
Conclusion
Our trading accounts are very flexible and can meet the needs of almost any trader.
Take some time to figure out how you want to analyze your data, then start setting up your accounts!
